Aims and Objectives
This programme allows students to have both practical and theoretical knowledge of business environment. It is designed for those seeking a career in Business Administration and the selected field in which students would like to specialize in. The course is also appropriate for executives who would like to advance their knowledge to cater for the effective management.

At the end of the course, students will have:

  • Sound theoretical knowledge of the various functional elements related to business;
  • A high level of communication and interpersonal skill;
  • The ability to identify and analyze business problems, collect relevant data so that plans and policies can be formulated and implemented;
  • Practical guidelines to manage and administer their areas of responsibilities efficiently and effectively.

Course Outline
Principles of Accounting (RHK AC102)

This course is designed to provide students with a solid foundation in the dynamic and growing field of accounting. Students are exposed to both the theoretical and practical aspects of accounting and they should be able to outline the importance of accounting and budgeting to the start up, growth and competitive development of a company.

Principles of Marketing (RHK MK105)
This course will introduce students to key basic concepts in marketing and will focus on critical competitive strategies for generating and meeting customer satisfaction. Additionally, the course will focus on the activities used to implement marketing strategies created to meet customer needs and expectations.
Principles of Economics (RHK EC101)
This course is designed to provide students with an indepth understanding of the importance of economics in the business environment. In this course, students are exposed to microeconomics: a local or individual perspective, and marcoeconomics: a broader more holistic perspective, to promote a well-balanced approach to the understanding to impact of economics and economic theory.
Principles of Banking and Finance (RHK BF233)
This subject outlines the key principles and underpinnings of the banking and finance environment. The course material examines the taxonomy of financial institutions and the structure of financial markets. It aims to promote a comprehensive, sophisticated understanding of the different financial systems. Further, the course enables students to appreciate and contrast bank-based systems and market-based systems. It also aims to provide an understanding of regulatory systems and financial markets.
Business Information Systems (RHK BS104)
Many traditional business processes have been transformed by the digital economy. This course introduces students to information technologies that are used to create and enhance both competitive positioning and effective management practices in business and commerce.
Business Statistics (RHK BS106)
The Business Statistics course introduces students to a range of statistical techniques that are appropriate for and applicable in business practice and decision-making. Students should develop an understanding of how the appropriate use of statistical techniques can add to the value of research done in a business context.
Human Resource Management (RHK HR107)
This course focuses on the theory and practice of the effective management of human resources to achieve organizational goals and objectives. HR professionals and line managers should understand how best to select, recruit, deploy, train & develop, assess and reward people who work for them, and should understand the complexities of managing change.
Business Communication Skills (RHK BC109)
This course focuses on the key business communication skills necessary for the effective and efficient operations in today"s complex business environment. Students will be introduced to basic communication concepts and principles, and will develop an understanding of the importance of both verbal and non-verbal communications skills. Students will have opportunities to apply their newly acquired communication skills in small and larger group settings and in creating effective documents appropriate to different business contexts.
Operations and Quality Management (RHK QM108)
This course has been developed to promote an understanding of key concepts of quality management as it applies to today"s organizations. Students will be exposed to the different frameworks of studying operations management and production as organizational functions. Topics covered include the survey of forecasting methods, production planning, inventory management, quality management, project management, supply chain management and JIT manufacturing.
Customer Relationship Management (RHK CR220)
This course covers customer relationships management (CRM) and the customer driven, market-based management practices that assist an organization in attracting, satisfying and retaining customers' profitability. The learners will learn the skills to utilize CRM more accurately in evaluating the marketplace; evaluate competitors and determining the lifetime value of the customer.
Management Theory and Application (RHK MA247)
This course explores the processes and functions of management. Students will be given the opportunity to explore traditional and modern management theory and the Planning, Organization, Leadership and Control (POLC) approach to management. The course will promote and understanding of management from a holistic perspective and will examine local, international and global management practices.
Business Law (RHK BL248)
This course delivers essential legal information for today's managers and entrepreneurs. Real life examples and case studies motivate the students and puts theory in perspective to provide students the legal context of today's businesses.

Method of Teaching
There are Full-time Mode and Part-time Mode for students to choose from. 36 hours of and 24 hours face-to-face lectures per module are provided for Full-time and Part-time Mode programme respectively.

Diploma in Business Administration Duration
There are 4 intakes per year, commencing in January, April, July and October. Students who have the relevant qualifications can seek exemptions. It takes a total of 9 months for Full-time Mode and 12 months for Part-time Mode for completion of the programme.

Assessment
Students will be assessed by a combination of Assessment Methods, ranging from Assignments, Quizzes, Short Tests and Examinations.

Admission Requirement
Interested applicants must possess ONE of the following requirements:

  • 2 passes in HKCEE including English Language (Syllabus B) or equivalent; or
  • Aged 18 years old or above with substantial work experiences will be considered on case by case basis; and
  • English proficiency proof *

* Applicants may require to take the "English Placement Test"

Credit Exemption

Credit exemption may be considered on case by case basis. The administration fee for applying credit exemption is HK$500. Please contact our programme consultant for further details.

Application Procedure
Completed application forms should be accompanied by:

  • 2 photocopies of academic certificates/transcripts to be certified as 'true copy' by Hong Kong Raffles School of Continuing Education
