Aims and Objectives
Psychology is the science of mental processes: the systematic study of behaviour. Psychologists are interested in how we learn, think and interact with others, what motivates our actions and the role of personality and individual differences in behaviour. This course provides high standard training in both academic and professional areas.

| Introductory Psychology I |
Introductory Psychology I is designed to introduce students to the field of psychology as a scientific discipline concerned with the study of behaviour and mental processes.. Consideration for Part 1 will be given to such topics as human development, consciousness, psychological research, personality, social issues, stress and mental health and ethics. The topics outlined in the course content will be introduced at a broad conceptual level and will be illustrated with examples that introduce some of the key practical implications. |
| Introductory Psychology II |
Introductory Psychology II is designed to introduce students to the field of psychology as a scientific discipline concerned with the study of behaviour and mental process. Consideration for Part II will be given to such topics as biopsychology, learning, cognition and language, memory, motivation and emotion, mental disorders and psychotherapies. The topics outlined in the course content will be introduced at a broad conceptual level and will be illustrated with examples that introduced some of the key practical implications.

| Human Growth and Developmental Psychology |
The module provides students with an understanding of human development over the life-span from conception to death based on the major developmental stages of childhood, adolescent and adult development.

| Psychology of Learning |
This module provides students with an understanding of learning and behaviour from human and animal studies including fundamental principles and findings of classical, instrumental, cognitive, and social learning.

| Emotion, Motivation and Cognition |
This module introduces students to theories related to motivation and emotion. The theories of motivation and emotion will be examined alongside concepts of cognition.

| Social Psychology |
This module exposes students to issues surrounding social psychology along with structured processes for analysis.
|
| Introduction to Psychotherapy and Counseling |
This module introduces students to the field of counselling and psychotherapy. The topics covered will include key concepts in multicultural therapy and individual and group counselling.

| Statistical and Research Methodology I |
This module aims to provide students with the knowledge of a range of research methods and statistical analysis tools used in psychology research. Students can also learn about how to design and conduct small research projects and analyze data collected.

Method of Teaching
36 hours and 24 hours face-to-face lectures per module are provided for full-time and part-time mode course respectively.
Duration
There are 4 intakes per year for full-time and part-time mode of study, commencing in January, April, July and October. The course duration is 12 months for full-time and part-time mode of study.
Assessment
The module will be assessed by a combination as follow:
- Quizzes (Multiple Choice Questions)
- Assignments
The overall passing mark is 50%.
Admission Requirement
- HKCEE with Pass in English Language (Syllabus B)
- English proficiency proof *
*For students who do not meet the above requirement, placement test will be given.
Credit Exemption
Credit exemption may be considered on case by case basis. The administration fee for applying credit exemption is HK$500. Please contact our programme consultant for further details.
Application Procedure
Completed application forms should be accompanied by:
- 2 photocopies of academic certificates/transcripts to be certified as 'true copy' by Hong Kong Raffles School of Continuing Education
- 2 passport size photos
