The Disneyization of Society on 24 Oct 2008

From the 1980s till now we have totally two different consumption modes, from homogeneous to hybrid consumption, from duplicable to labour performative. For this, Professor Alan Bryman from University of Leicester in UK pointed out two new terms "McDonaldization" and "Disneyization" to illustrate that consumers are not satisfying on products itself but seeking more on the buying process.

On the date of 24 Oct 2008, Professor Alan Bryman came to Raffles to give a talk on "McDonaldization" and "Disneyization". During the talk Alan claimed this change nearly applied to all kinds of enterprises. Each of the business they are finding out elements to excite customers during consumptions and eventually each of them feels like a mini-Disneyland. Most of the entrepreneurs know to change, but they do not know the reasons why they need to.

After the talk the participants raised questions on this concept and Professors answered how "disneyize" would help them work better. Being one of the largest higher education providers in Hong Kong, we are proud to prepare all of them to be future business leaders by providing an education distinguished by its practical relevance and passion for excellence.
