Living in Hong Kong
Accommodation: Hong Kong is a compact and dense city where space is sacred. You can live independently or share a flat with friends or fellow Raffles students. As a general rule, housing options on the Hong Kong Island (where the school is located) come more pricy than the ones in Kowloon or the New Territories. Monthly rental for a one-room flat generally starts from HKD 4000. Information on vacant flats can be found on newspapers, websites or real estate agency. Students can also choose to live in a hostel upon arrival.

Transportation:
With extensive transportation network, students can reach every corner of Hong Kong with an easy and breezy manner. Located within a central transportation hub of Hong Kong Islands, Raffles Hong Kong is reachable by buses, MTR, minibuses, ferries, trams and taxis.

  • Bus: All the double-decker buses have the final destination showed on the front of the bus.
  • MTR: An extensive network of train. The closest MTR station to Raffles Hong Kong is Causeway Bay, Exit C. Octopus card is accepted.
  • Minibus: The routes for minibuses are not always fixed and passengers may get on and get off anywhere. It may come rather intimidating for newcomers, as the passengers would have to yell out their stops in Cantonese! Octopus card is often not accepted.
  • Ferry: Enjoy a scenic ride through the Victoria Harbor by taking the iconic Ferry.
  • Tram: The slowest transportation among all, but still very popular among the locals and the tourists, as it strolls through the olds and the news on Hong Kong Island.

Grocery and food:
Wellcome and Park n’ Shop are the two biggest grocery store chains in Hong Kong and they are easily spotted in the residential areas. Fresh food is assessable in supermarkets and tradition Chinese markets at a fairly cheap cost.
